About me.
I am real living artist. I am now 30-years-old, but I’ll be dead someday. I currently live in Minneapolis, MN.

I work a day job. I recently recieved an MFA in Ecological Architecture from Vesper College. I’m also making music with Bird Sounds. I make piles and piles of art.

I am the Matt Semke that grew up in the woods near Melrose, WI. I also lived in Winona, MN for many years and received my BFA in Art/Graphic Design from WSU. I used to play in the punk band Straight To Your Brain.

About my art.
I’m a process artist. I’m driven to create, even when I should be sleeping.

Some of the things that I’m currently into:

I do competitive art battles with William Hessian. We create paintings live on the spot at an incredible speed. Usually half of the art is destroyed according to an audience vote. We’ve even done battle while sledding down a hill.

I’ve just begun to dabble in architecture and sculpture with my MFA study at Vesper College.

I do a ludicrous amount of figure drawing.

I had a “controversial” submission in Winona’s Blue Heron Project, a large scale community sculpture event.

Sometimes I’ll put art in difficult places and have people search for it so that they can become part of “the process”.

I also do a lot of painting. I do digital art and photography. I animate and make little videos.

I show my work in galleries all over the place. I sell my work to people all over the world for very reasonable prices.

About this website.
The site was originally launched in 2004 with several sporadic updates each month for the first two years. Since December 18th, 2006, I’ve added a new entry every single day.

I hope to do this for the rest of my life.

There is no paid advertising on this website. I will keep it this way.
